Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Analyst to join our team and support our growing Data Protection Officer (DPO) services in Jamaica, specifically under the Jamaica Data Protection Act. This role will play a critical part in delivering our data protection services to clients, helping ensure their compliance with data protection laws, and maintaining high standards for data privacy and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Data Protection Services: Assist in delivering comprehensive DPO services to clients, including data protection registration, compliance assessments, DPIA, Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), and privacy policy development.
- Monitor Compliance: Track, review, and report on clients’ data protection and privacy practices to ensure ongoing compliance with the Jamaica Data Protection Act.
- Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA): Conduct annual DPIAs for clients to evaluate and mitigate privacy risks, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to the Office of the Information Commissioner.
- Data Breach Management: Support incident response and data breach investigations, document and report incidents, and coordinate communication to ensure timely resolution.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed records of data protection activities, client communications, and regulatory submissions.
- Client Training & Education: Develop and deliver training sessions to clients and their employees, enhancing awareness of data protection responsibilities and best practices.
- Policy and Process Development: Assist in developing and refining data protection policies and procedures tailored to individual client needs.
- Vendor and Third-Party Management: Support assessment of data protection risks with third-party vendors and assist in ensuring proper data privacy measures are in place.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, information technology, business, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in data protection, data privacy, or compliance roles.
- Strong knowledge of data protection regulations and principles, preference for in the Jamaican context.
- Experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA), RoPA, and other privacy compliance audits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain (written and verbal) clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple client accounts.
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
